Stewardship

Collections

Collecting does not end at acquisition. The ongoing care, documentation, and stewardship of a collection is itself a discipline — one that many collectors discover requires more attention than they anticipated.

Documentation

Collection Records

A properly documented collection has complete records for each work: provenance, purchase documentation, condition reports, exhibition history, literature references, certificate of authenticity where applicable, and high-resolution photography. We establish and maintain these records to standards that support insurance, resale, and estate purposes.

Insurance

Appraisal & Coverage

Art insurance requires accurate and current appraisals. We coordinate with qualified USPAP-compliant appraisers and work with fine art insurance specialists to ensure collections are properly valued and covered — including for works on loan, in transit, and in storage.

Conservation

Care & Condition

Works on paper, canvas, and panel; sculpture; photography; works on glass — each medium has distinct care requirements. We refer collectors to appropriate conservators and help them understand and implement appropriate storage, display, and handling standards.

Estate

Legacy Planning

Art collections are often among the most complex assets in an estate. We work alongside estate attorneys and advisors to document, appraise, and plan the future of a collection — whether through family transfer, charitable gift, private sale, or auction.
